For the first example from ther Important Music playlist, we have "Right in the Night", by Jam and Spoon ft. Plavka. Which is an absolutely stunning example of progressive Eurotrance, first released just days after my 14th birthday in 1993. Being a reasonably well off family by late 80's/early 90's standats, we had satellite television, which gave us access to MTV Europe and it wasntl long before the track was getting a lot of airplay, espeiclaly durong the late night eletronica-centric blocks, like Party Zone. Its popularity sky-rocketed and soon aftre it became one of those tracks very often heard loudly from the cars of local "boy-racers"

Ok...so this is a bit of a crazy one! This is by far my earliest actual music memory and even crazier that i was only 2 years old when it came out!!

Bucks Fizz, best known by most as the UK winner at the Eurovison Song Contest 1981, with "Making Your Mind Up", were a British four piece Pop group, made up of four vocalists: Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston. They formed in 1980, for the purpose of entering the contest and after being selected on A Song for Europe as our entry that year, the single was released, enting the charst at number 24. In the subsequest couple of momths, the single had elevated to the No. 2 spot in time for the contest and tehreafter hit the top spot following their win, beating Germany by a margin of only 4 points!!

As the year went on, they releaded seveeal fuether singles, then in Novemeber "The Land of Make Believe" was erecord and released, climbing to No. 5 in time for Christmas, securing them a perfromace on the Christmas edition of Top of the Pops. The song was a success and remained in the UK charts for 16 weeks, even overtaking Human League's incredible "Don't You Want Me", to reach the No. 1 spot in January 1982!
